Seismic performance of an existing RC structure retrofitted with buckling restrained braces

The use of buckling restrained braces (BRBs) represents one the best solutions for retrofitting or upgrading numerous existing reinforced concrete framed buildings in areas with a high seismic hazard. This study investigates effectiveness BRBs retrofit (RC) masonry infills. For this purpose, an advanced non-linear three-dimensional model building L'Aquila is developed OpenSees, by accounting effect infill walls through equivalent strut approach, and using recently hysteretic BRBs. performance before after evaluated performing both static analyses incremental dynamic under set real ground motion records along weak direction frame. Seismic demand hazard curves are built different response parameters retrofit, disregarding contribution walls. results shed light on various components system, case study.
